He Said That We Were An Answer To His Prayer

Hello everyone!

We have had a great week this week! I hope your week went well. We had some good miracles that happened this week.

On our way home from our zone meeting we decided to stop by a few less actives that we had planned. We don't really get out to the area we were in very often because it is about 40 minutes away from our home. We stopped by a few but didn't have any luck. We had one more name we thought we would try before we started to head for home. We stopped luckily he was home! His name is C--. He said that at the time we came by he was going through a lot of depression and other trials and that the night before he had prayed to God for relief, and a sign that he was not forgotten. He said that we were an answer to his prayer. It was amazing to see his countenance change over the time we were there. At first, he seemed really tired and down, but as we talked and read from the scriptures, he went from that to being happy and smiling toward the end. It was a great experience, now we just need to help him get back to church!

We had another miracle this week. Our investigator S-- came to church for the first time! We have been teaching her semi-frequently over the last 7 weeks. Not only did she come to church, but she got up and shared her testimony during fast and testimony meeting! It was a powerful testimony that she bore about Jesus Christ and why she is thankful for Him. After the meeting was over, a whole bunch of the members came up and talked to her and really did a good job at fellowshipping her. Turns out that she knows quite a few of the members! She said that she wants to come back next week, and we really have hope that she does.

Our other investigators are doing well. S-- did not come to church because she had surgerya few days ago. For the most part she is doing well! She is keeping a very positive attitude despite her struggles. R--  is still doing well and comes to church every week. We found a family of 3 this week. A mom, dad and 16 year old boy named S--. They are great! We met them a few weeks ago but have not had a chance to teach them until this past week.

The trust we have with members has gone up tremendously!! As a result of the people we teach, both less active and non members that are coming to church, we have had a good number of members come up and thank us for the work we are doing. The members here seem especially excited when we tell them of the progress we are making with the less active members. We have also had a few of the people that go on exchange with us stand up in church and say that they really enjoyed themselves and that everyone should experience what they experienced. We also have built good relationships with a few part member families and are working toward building stronger relationships with them so they will gain more of an interest in the church. A lot of them have been taught by the missionaries before so there is mixed feelings that some of them have toward us, but we are working on making all of those feelings positive.

This upcoming week looks like a good one. President Bernhisel is coming to my district meeting and then out to proselyte with us afterward. I am so excited! I love going on exchange with him and Sister Bernhisel. Oh, another good thing is that my boy Elder Edman is now my zone leader!!! It is great to see the growth in him and all that he has become. It is great to have this role reversal. First I was his trainer, then I was his zone leader, and now he is my zone leader! I am really excited to work with him.

I hope y'all have a great week! I love you so much, and hope that you enjoy going back to school and everything!

Love Elder Mortensen

We took pictures with Brother Warren at the state line that is 5 minutes from our home. Don't worry, I did not cross over the border!!  Haha!  There was about 40 yards between the Welcome to North Carolina and the Welcome to South Carolina signs. I guess we were in no man's land.
